'Yeah, I'm not coming back. I quit!': Boss takes away employee's lunch break after he is late one time, employee leaves for good

Never mess with an employee's lunch break.

This guy gained a reputation over the years at his company for being a model employee. He always showed up to work well before he needed to be there, and he was one of the last to leave the office every day as well. Of course, people who show this level of hard work and diligence are often overlooked and held to a higher standard of excellence than everyone else. 

That is certainly what transpired when this author was chastised for not informing his boss in advance that he was running late one morning… for the first time ever. Talk about this boss having some kind of audacity!

Not only was the employee given a stern "talking to" after showing up just a few minutes behind schedule, but he then have to deal with having his lunch break taken away from him. That was a bridge too far for the employee, as it should be for most workers.

  • We hope this author felt some kind of moral triumph as he marched out of his offices for good that day. Of course, he inevitably was going to have to deal with the difficulties of needing to find a new job, which is what often makes this kind of impulsive action difficult to practice in your real life. So kudos to this guy for following his instincts! Most of us could never be this bold.

    So I just walked out of my job. After 6 months of being a model employee, I'm always talking 10 minutes early, never called out once I had a morning where everything that could go wrong, did. I ended up walking in 8 minutes late.
